Aldeyjarfoss is one of my favourite waterfall in Iceland. Aldeyjarfoss is special because of the basalt columns that surround the area. The waterfall is located in North Iceland about 40 KM from Goðafoss. The road to Aldeyjarfoss is a gravel road, but it is easy to drive it during summer. I tried to capture a photo at the classic vantage point, but I didn't have a wide enough lens to do it. You need an 18mm or wider lens to capture the classic image. The best thing about not having a wide lens is that it forced me to capture this scene differently. I captured this image using 14 stop ND filter to get a 30” exposure. When you are at Aldeyjarfoss you notice how large it is and I wanted to show that in my image. Putting a person in the frame is an easy way to show size. When I was getting ready to pack the gear, these two tourists walked into my frame. I was really quick to capture them and make them a part of my image. I think the next step for me is to visit Aldeyjarfoss during winter, so I can see how snow affects the scenery.
