PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATION GUIDE: REYKJANESTA
CREATED BY GUNNAR RAGNARSSON - JULY 08 2019
Reykjanestá is located on the Reykjanes peninsula about 29 km away from Keflavik airport. My favourite spot to capture this location is down in the rocks as close to the water as possible. When I captured this image I tried a lot of setting, I captured a 5” exposure which I didn't like, the water was flat and uninteresting. Then I tried 0.8” exposure, the water was smooth and had a lot of details which was exactly what I wanted. When you are at a location like this, I would recommend to experiment with different exposure, times and compositions, to be able to capture the water exactly like you want. The only reason I was able to get down to my spot was because of the low tied. If you have high tied it is impossible to get down there, but the advantage of high tide is that it changes the scene completely and it's possible to capture something different. I would recommend a wide angle lens for this scene, but it is also possible to use a telephoto lens to capture details of the cliffs and the birds that surround the area. Before you arrive to this location you will pass Gunnuhver and Reykjanesviti these two locations are worth a visit while you are there.
